BOSTON (AP) — An almost two-year, $26 million renovation of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston’s mom church is nearing completion, simply in time for Holy Week.
The Boston Globe reviews that the primary sanctuary on the Cathedral of the Holy Cross within the metropolis’s South End is predicted to reopen subsequent month and the primary Mass within the renovated area is scheduled for April 14, Palm Sunday.
The principal worship area has been off-limits to the general public since May 2017. Two chapels on the cathedral have been internet hosting providers in the course of the work.
The renovations embrace cleaned and higher lit stained-glass home windows, a stone ground to switch the previous wooden ground, restored oak pews, and new wiring, sprinkler and sound methods.
The work was funded via donations. The cathedral was devoted in 1875.
