WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Police bomb squads have converged on a Massachusetts church after hand grenades had been present in a pile of donated back-to-school objects.
Explosives consultants with the Worcester police, Massachusetts State Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had been known as to St. Bernard’s Church of Our Lady of Providence at midmorning Friday.
Authorities say the grenades turned out to be inert coaching units that posed no hazard.
Worcester police tweeted that the grenades had been found whereas volunteers had been organizing college provides on the church.
The constructing was sealed off as a precaution however later reopened.
