At the end of a wide-ranging interview covering the science of wildfire, the perils of worldbuilding and Martin’s childhood notebooks (in which he invented a whole system of planets surrounding Alpha Centauri), GRRM dropped a single hint regarding the next book in the ASOIAF series, The Winds of Winter.

SiriusXM launches new ‘essential’ streaming plan for less than $8

SiriusXM is now offering an $8-per-month streaming music plan that it calls SiriusXM Essential, a bundle of over 300 channels consisting of music, talk radio, comedy, sports, and other content. This new, cheap option doesn’t include Howard Stern’s two channels — you’ve got to step up to Premium for those — and is strictly for online streaming, so it can’t be used with your car’s satellite radio if you’ve got one. But otherwise, the company says you can expect a ton of variety for commercial-free music listening.

Google Home provides assist for YouTube Music’s free ad-supported tier

Google Home smart speakers can now play music from YouTube Music’s free ad-supported tier. Previously, in order to listen to YouTube music on your Google Assistant smart speaker you’d have to subscribe to Google’s paid YouTube Music Premium service for $9.99 a month. The new service is available now on the Google Home speaker and other Google Assistant smart speakers in 16 countries including the US, UK, and Australia.
